Born on the 22nd of March 1974 in Beirut, Hady Zaccak studied at Institut d’Etudes Scéniques, Audiovisuelles et Cinématographiques – Saint-Joseph University, Beirut.
He obtained his BA in Audio-Visual Studies (1997) and an MA in Cinema Studies and Film Directing (2001). He took part in workshops for film directing, editing and production at FEMIS in Paris, INSAS in Brussels and HFF Konrad Wolf in Potsdam – 2007).
Between 1995 and 1996, he wrote a book on the global history of Lebanese Cinema. The book was published in French in 1997 under the title Le Cinéma Libanais Itinéraire d’un Cinéma Vers l’Inconnu (Dar El-Machreq – Beirut, 1929-1996).
He wrote and directed more than 20 short films and documentaries since 1997, which have been produced and broadcasted by several Institutions, Production Houses and TV stations Future TV – Lebanon, Al Arabiya – Dubai, France 3, Paris, Al-Jazeera, Qatar and presented in several film festivals worldwide.
In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Zaccak has been teaching at IESAV – USJ since 1998. He gives courses on film directing, history of cinema and film genres.
